Whoever said they don’t build ’em like they used to never saw the new Dodge Charger. Its current edition looks an awful lot like the muscle cars that made the brand famous. It also has the performance that reminds you some beauty is more than skin deep. With the 2018 Dodge Charger now in stock at Turlock Chrysler Dodge Jeep® RAM, it’s time to catch up with a classic.

With a couple of exceptions we’ll explore later, the looks of the new Dodge Charger are much the same as what we saw last year. That’s also true of the trims. Likewise, the powertrains still couple a range of great engines (up to and including the 707 horsepower Hellcat engine) run through an eight-speed TorqueFlite transmission that makes the most of each powerplant. Rounding things out, you also get to choose between front-wheel or all-wheel drive.

Even though much remains the same, there are a handful of substantial changes. One of the most important is the addition of new standard safety features, including a backup camera and rear parking sensors. Also welcome are upgrades to the Uconnect® infotainment system. The base screen is now seven inches (up from five inches), with the 8.4-inch display still optional. The operating system is updated, so the system now supports Android Auto® and Apple CarPlay® .

There are also some trim-specific changes. On the R/T Scat Pack and Daytona 392 trims, you now have the option of Red Brembo brake calipers. On the Hellcat trim, there’s another variant on the Brembos (this time in black, gunmetal, and orange), as well as new badging, a new grille, distinctive badging, 20-inch aluminum wheels, and heat extractors.

Sedans don’t have to be boring. The 2018 Dodge Charger, like other new Dodge models, is for drivers who haven’t surrendered to mundane family haulers. To check out more Dodge vehicles that will impress, visit Turlock Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM today.
